JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible for conducting financial analysis for value-added projects submitted to the Center by farmers and agri-entreprenuers.
- Develop a statewide Extension educational program based on financial analysis fundamentals in support of value-added agriculture development.
- Provide leadership for various value-added program and project areas.
- Provide leadership in and serve as an active participant of the statewide Value-Added Agriculture Priority Team.
- Support, strengthen and participate in county-based Extension programs.
- Secure external funding for programs through grants, contracts, gifts and fees.
- Develop effective teaching tools (traditional and cutting-edge), including publications, fact sheets, educational curriculum and web-based materials.
- Provide training in value-added enterprise development for County Extension Agents.
- Contribute to and build partnerships inside and outside the department and organization. Work closely with other members of the Center's faculty and staff as well as program partners in Tennessee Department of Agriculture and the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Plan, develop, implement, evaluate and report value-added educational programs.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
- Provide leadership for a program of activities that meets the needs of eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion or veteran status.

REQUIREMENTS Master's degree in Agricultural Economics and preference for prior experience which demonstrates promise in Extension program development and outreach.
- Experience or strong understanding of value-added enterprise analysis/development/operation; and of developing and conducting financial analyses for value-added enterprises.
- Proficient use and experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheet, database), Internet (web, e-mail), and Powerpoint, etc.
- Experience and effective ability to provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams as well as abilities to work and serve as an effective member of program teams.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Experience and interest in grant writing and proposal preparation for external funding is preferred.
- Candidates must be able to initiate proactive educational programs and respond to program needs by clients.
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture is preferred.
- Candidates who have knowledge of agricultural Extension programs and the land-grant mission are preferred.
