Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor of Agricultural Economics (12-month tenure-track, 100% Extension.) Nursery/Greenhouse and Fruit/Vegetable Marketing and Management.

    Salary is commensurate with training and experience. JOB DESCRIPTION The Department has long had a strong, visible and nationally-recongnized Extension program in support of product improvement, market expansion and niche development for Tennessee's competitive nursery/greenhouse and fruit/vegetable industries. The successful candidate will be expected to build upon this foundation by:
  1. developing, delivering, and evaluating a nationally-recognized Extension educational outreach program focused on marketing and management opportunities in this industry;
  2. working with and teaching Extension agents about the subject matter element of the educational program;
  3. working with state industry and producer groups to further enhance educational program efforts;
  4. providing input to and serving with regional and/or national educational groups;
  5. acquiring extramural funding to enhance educational programs;
  6. working with and providing support to faculty in the Department of Agricultural Economics and in the Institute of Agriculture as a part of multi-disciplinary teams and;
  7. providing leadership for a program of activities that meets the needs of eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion, and veteran status.

REQUIREMENTS Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics or a closely related field.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Knowledge of agricultural production.
  • Skill in creative use of computers in educational programs.
  • Ability to work effectively with agricultural clientele and in multi-disciplinary and in multi-disciplinary teams.
